ChessCamp: Castle Chess

Castle Chess Camp is held annually on the campus of Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. Now in its 21st year, Castle Chess brings together top instructors and aspiring students for a week of intensive training and fun.

Castle Chess requires a minimum USCF rating of 1100. The minimum camper age is 10 years old.

In 2023, we had 92 campers from 21 states, with an average USCF rating of 1735. The top group included campers rated 2075 – 2350 USCF, and the second group include campers rated 1965 – 2060 USCF.

Castle Chess also hosts the $12,000 Grand Prix Tournament the weekend after camp. The GP tournament is open to everyone: campers, staff, non-campers.
